“Courage. cor is Latin for heart. It originally meant To speak one’s mind by telling one’s heart…Heroic is about putting our life on the line. Ordinary courage is about putting our vulnerability on the line. In today’s world, that’s pretty extraordinary” – Dr. Brene Brown
This started off as an outfit post, like no other. Showing you guys what my favourites are for a workout. These pants rock because they have pockets. So I can put my phone into my pockets while I run. No need for those wrist bands, arm bands, waist bands and bands of any kind! And they look pretty rad so why not. Pick them up if you want to! I personally love them, great for running, yoga and barre.
I’ve probably typed this post, 5 times within the past 2 months and bit by bit it’s getting easier. About a year and a half ago, like many people out there in the world, I’ve got depression and anxiety, and no this is not the “I’m sad”. It’s been diagnosed by a doctor and if I wanted to I can get medication but I chose the other route, counting on myself and professionals. I’ve been seeing a professional counsellor for over a year, read so many books that you cannot imagine. I’ve read about personality, the human mind in a physical and mental, how be imperfect in a world that seeks perfect and most importantly who the heck am I? By reading, I feel like I can become more connected with my mind and knowledge has led to growth and gain a better understanding of myself.
Welcome world to my vulnerability. By working on ourselves, facing our problems, and now finally becoming a more authentic self, I am in a state that I’ve never been before. A balanced mindset to not overthink or ignore but to truly understand the meaning of being present in both mind and body. I’ve been going to yoga for the past 3 years now and all of this talk has been fluff to me until this year. Once you get it, it clicks. I am definitely far from being that ideal self, but you know what, there is no such thing as an ideal self but rather an on going journey!
Running has been one of the activities that keeps me focused. Helps me understand the value of going the distance, the importance of going as a team and that energy and the wholehearted feeling you receive makes me want to exert that energy out to everyone around me.
At anytime, if you feel like you’re also in this situation, send me an email and we can chat away from public at firstname.lastname@example.org. You’re not alone and by me opening up about this, I’ve learnt that so many other people are in this situation. I’m writing not to get sympathy but for others to understand that this is a part of life that some of us experience and that all this can be conquered with time and effort. We spend so much time about body wellness but we forget the taboo topic of mental wellness.
Thank you so much for reading this everyone. This is a personal note and this is me becoming as true to you and everyone out there as I can (for now).
You will see a wellness series coming up shortly on this blog. Where I talk about wellness and what that means. I’m excited to start this project and would love to welcome you all to this wonderful journey and if even one person finds this blog a moment of relief, I feel like I’ve done my part.
Once again, thank you so much everyone! My little community of Instagram followers has grown so much within the past 3 months and I cannot be more thankful to have you all be a part of this journey of mine.
