I recently visited Metta3 Rest Spa in Vancouver and it was my first floating experience. I felt relaxed, energized and almost like a “new me” kind of feeling. If you are a fan of yoga and/or meditation, floating is an experience that you should try at least once.
Metta 3 Spa Facility
Metta3 is more than just a floating facility, it has an infrared sauna, yoga studio, relaxing lounge and full amenities shower facility. I was surprisingly shocked at the level of service from Metta3. The place is an absolute haven nested in Kitsilano, where you get your own locker, robe and slippers for the entire spa journey and every moment was just extraordinary.
They have a total of seven private float pods, each with an unique name. I was in the Imagination room and each room has it’s own shower, float pod and towels. The pods are massive, and are filled with over 700 lbs of epson salt. The team does a weekly check in to ensure the buoyancy of the water is at optimal level.
Float into relaxation
I first changed into my robe and went into the sauna where I relaxed for about 30 minutes. Trust me, this was great. The best part of this experience is you don’t need to worry about time. Their staff will come get you when it’s time so you can literally just doze off into their space and have a worry free afternoon or morning. I spent a surprising 3.5 hours there from start to finish. Soon after the sauna, I was brought into my private room where I spent an hour floating.
What floating meant to me
This was my first floating experience, a place where you are in a private space, lights out and silence. It’s not everyday when you get to be in a space alone, free of distractions from sounds, movements or light. When I was in my pod, I can’t help but think about things going on in my life and that is totally fine. The experience is how you want it to be. There isn’t a right or wrong way to float. To experience a moment of solitude is all you might need to restart your day. It’s your time, you can have the lid opened, closed, swim in the pod, sit in the pod, you can do whatever.
It’s a space with zero judgement, zero expectations and sometimes we need a space just like that, even for a moments of our lives.
This is definitely a spa experience from Metta3, not just a floating facility. I would highly recommend this for a girls’ weekend getaway / staycation and spend a few hours here just to float! There is free parking underground in the back alley, so be sure to park there for your spa experience with Metta3.
